The Ghosts of Senate House is one part of a creative research project led by Sarah Sparkes. It serves as an archive for uncanny, apocryphal stories emanating from Senate House. These stories formed part of "a Magical library for the 21st Century" an archive of writings, recordings, artwork, artefacts, and other contributions, which was first shown at the University of London as part of The Bloomsbury Festival October 2011.

Where's the Mummy?



Oddly, at the time of writing (April 2011), room 62 of the British Museum displays this information board (left)...

...whilst the 'Unlucky' mummy-board itself (below right) is, unaccountably, missing.

    Still the same (November 2012) and when I asked an attendant I was told that there was 'something in the store room linked with a haunting' but she wasn't sure what!

    Would that be a store room in the BL's basement? What wonders lie buried therein...I somehow visualize it as the huge stores seen in the final(?) scene of raiders of the Lost Ark...

    Irving Finkel once mentioned that only one-third of the BL's Ancient Near East tablets have been translated; the remainder are in storage awaiting scholarly attention.

    I should add that the priestess mummy-board is (or was, last time I looked) now back on display.
